We are seeking a Behavior Interventionist to support the instructional program with specific responsibilities for effecting positive behavioral change in scholars. The incumbent will redirect scholars' inappropriate behaviors through the application of positive behavioral supports to help them become more academically successful. The Behavior Interventionist will provide classroom and school-wide behavior strategies. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

Assess student needs, determine appropriate interventions, set up appropriate progress monitoring plans, analyze student data and complete Functional Behavioral Assessments with Behavior Intervention Plans in order to substantially increase academic performance and reduce inappropriate behaviors.

Plans and supports implementation of the essential components of an instructional program for scholars with behavioral needs to include: early intervention, predictability and structure, functional analysis of behaviors, development of behavior intervention plans and systematic data monitoring.

Provide behavioral support and training to teachers and staff. 

Responsible for the delivery of a structured environment that includes the use of diverse evidence based strategies for the support of scholars with behavioral needs.

Maintain an open line of communication with faculty and school personnel.

Work cooperatively with the Leadership Team and teachers to promote positive scholar behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.

Provide classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.

Participate in summer experience and professional development activities as appropriate.

Train and coach teachers in behavioral strategies around conflict and crisis management, anger control and goal setting.

Provide crisis response and management for scholars who are experiencing significant behavioral and emotional challenges.

Keep appropriate records and inform the School Leader Fellow of scholar/family contracts.


Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Excellent and effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills 

Technology proficiency 

Professional, calm, and patient demeanor

Knowledge of social-emotional and behavioral interventions a plus

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, kneel, crouch, operate a computer and other office equipment.
